Insurance companies do things for various reasons. The most common reason is profits. Carriers spend millions per year to fine tune methods of reducing payouts. This leaves doctors unpaid, patients stressed and delayed, and with no payments. Often patients may personally pay for care that should have been paid by automobile carriers. Providers must spend time and money to address these auto insurance issues.
Physicians must be aware what is being done to reduce payments for medically necessary care. In addition, they must understand the PI system and prepare and have strategies. One of the best strategies is pre-emptive strikes. In our first program we will discuss the PI system regarding denied care and diagnoses. Additionally, we will cover medical necessity and protocols in chiropractic treatment in cases of occupant injuries from motor vehicle collisions.
