About the Presenter: Dr. John Schmidt is a well sought after national lecturer and consultant on matters related to coding, compliance and documentation. He is a former Licensed Insurance Adjuster and is a Compliance Editor for the 2010 Chirocode DeskBook.
Dr. Schmidt is a 1988 graduate of Life Chiropractic College (Life University) in Marietta, Georgia. After graduation, Dr. Schmidt maintained a high volume private practice from 1989 until 2002. Dr. Schmidt's practice included treatment of professional athletes and Hollywood actors.
In 1997, Dr. Schmidt became a a licensed insurance adjuster. This continued education has given him unique insight into the specific coding and documentation requirements of insurance carriers including Medicare.
In 1999, Dr. Schmidt became a Fellow of the International Academy of Medical Acupuncture. In 2005-2006, Dr. Schmidt worked in spinal surgery performing neurodiagnostic testing on patients undergoing brain and spinal cord injuries.
Since 2002, Dr. Schmidt has been a well sought after national lecturer and consultant on matters related to coding, compliance and documentation in the chiropractic, physical therapy and physical medicine practice. Dr. Schmidt has conducted over 120 seminars for a total of nearly 2,000 hours of continuing education seminars. In addition, Dr. Schmidt has been requested to speak to state licensing agencies on compliance issues.
Dr. Schmidt has been a guest lecturer of the California Chiropractic Association, Minnesota Chiropractic Association and the Chirocode Institute. He has also lectured for practice management consultants and product manufacturers.
Dr. Schmidt has also provided expert witness testimony and consulting with doctors who have been audited or under investigation.
Dr. Schmidt has created some of the most widely used products in the chiropractic profession including a Voluntary Compliance Program which is recommended by the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS).
