Full Tributes:

99. Please allow me to offer my heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of D. Henry Leavitt.

I was shocked and deeply saddened to hear about the passing of DH. I have known him for years and consider him a friend. I will miss hearing his gentle voice. I am eternally grateful to him for all his hard work and love of chiropractic, the health field, and bringing ZHT (Zhou hypoxicology technique) to us. It has helped me to improve my own health, and the health of my patients who suffer with sleep related disorders.

DH, it is an honor to have know you and be inspired by you.

The Peace that surpasses all understanding.

Catherine Santoro, DC

98. I was very, very sorry to hear of the passing of Mr. Leavitt. I only knew him through the helpful advice of the telephone which was quite enough to know this special man. I knew when I heard that kind and unique voice that I was going to get some help. He helped me so many times with my questions or concerns. He was a good friend to our chiropractic profession and me personally. If he didn't know the answer he researched a problem until it was solved.

I always felt of course that I came out ahead with this special man. He gave me more than an answer I very much needed. Because he was one of those people that are so genuine and so helpful, you want to try to be like just like them and help others. What more of an influence can you give than that? I will truly miss him. Because he was so special he has to be in a special place. I got all of that simply over the telephone. God bless you and your family Mr. Leavitt.

Anthony Fiorini

97. On behalf of the Georgia Council of Chiropractic, our board, our members, and on a personal note, I extend our deepest sympathy. DH will be greatly missed. Dr. Steve & I had the joy of hosting DH at our home when he came to speak to the GCC members. He was always such a delight. His expertise, dedication and knowledge offered un-matched service to our profession. No matter how serious the question he always had something positive to say and always with some humor. DH we'll miss you.

Drs. Claire & Steve Welsh
President & Vice President of the Georgia Council of Chiropractic

96. I was lucky enough to have spoken with Dr. Leavitt on more than one occasion in my career of manager for our office. He was so patient with me during my long learning curve and a pleasure to speak with. After almost 7 years here, I still look to my Chirocode DeskBook on a weekly basis!

My regards and deepest sympathies go out to the Leavitt family and the Deskbook group of individuals who were instrumental in helping Dr. Leavitt help us. He will be missed.

God Bless!

Karen E. Baskin

95. To all of you at Chirocode Institute, I just want to say thanks for all you have done to help us thru some very trying times. Your father who I had the pleasure of talking to on several occasions was an incredible help to our issues with United Health. I couldn't believe that He was the one that was calling me to follow up. He actually told me in a conversation one day, that he was thinking about us all thru the night and had to touch base with me the next day. He said it is unfortunate what you are going thru and it is time to go a step farther and contact the insurance commissioner on this one. He said he would contact the lawyer and get back to me, he was sincerely wanting to help us, no matter what the cost, he felt that it was just unfair how the insurance companies can do what they do to the Chiropractors and get away with it as long as they have. What an incredible human being your father was. He never even met me or my husband who has been practicing for 25 years. But the love and dedication he has for us is unreal. The education that I have received from him, and your company has kept me out of those BORING billing seminars that never quite get to the point, I know you know what I mean. Chiro Code Institute helps me stay on top of the profession, I am so grateful to all of you and your amazing father H. Leavitt. I will miss speaking to him.

Sincerely,

Margie Edelson

94. I am grateful for the things I was able to learn from him not by his words but by his actions! He talked the talk then walked the walk.

"The best use of money is for family memories."

"Positive words to those that need it will do more than telling them of their faults."

My short story of Uncle Henry:

I have a uncle henry pocketknife on my desk. It's a good quality pocketknife.

Years ago I told Henry that I lost the Swiss Army knife that my mother had given to me when she went to Switzerland. Years later he went on a trip and bought me another Swiss army pocketknife. Why would someone remember that? Surely this man had more to do with his business, church callings, immediate family needs, hustle and bustle of daily life to remember that I lost a pocketknife? It wasn't the pocketknife that he gave me...it was the love that was shown that he was thinking of me after all those years.

I have thought often of how and why he did that for me. How could he remember me? My conclusion is that he had practiced this his whole life for others and therefore it was more commonplace in his mind of how to serve others. I was one of thousands that he remembered and did an act of kindness. Why did he do this? He had charity and loved to help others. The pocketknife on my desk is not the one he gave me (I lost it )...I bought it last week because it said "Uncle Henry" on it. I have it along side the hammer that Ruth stole from Uncle Laurals house that reminds me to work hard and I now a have a daily reminder to help others (especially family) with my Uncle Henry's pocketknife.

John Hyde

92. It was but a few months ago that I called ChiroCode to ask a question and was surprised when I asked to whom I was speaking. It was DH himself. Besides giving an explicit answer we talked about when in business you do everything as well as the importance of family as it relates to it I feel my conversation was a blessing. Myself, my wife, my associates send our deepest sympathy.

91. I was so suprised when logging on to the website to hear of your loss. Over the course of 21 years of insurance billing for 2 different chiropractors, I knew I could always count on help from Mr. Leavitt when an issue came along. He was always very pleasant and helpful. I am sure I am not the only one who he "calmed down" and helped, in finding a solution to an insurance company "tactic". Mr. Leavitt will be extremely missed by the Chiropractic World! My heart goes out to his family, friends and co-workers. May you find peace at this very difficulty time.

90. I just learned of DH's passing. I am so sad. He was such a kind and generous man. He was always so supportive of the CAs. He will be sadly missed, but those who knew him are so rich and blessed.

89. I just wanted personally express my condolences to the family of D.H.Leavitt for your enormous loss. This is a man I have never met but have thanked God for so many times. His contributions to our Chiropractic community will never be forgotten. His webinars and ChiroCode books have been godsends to me over the years. Every time I picked my book up and opened it I learned something so valuable for our practice. He was truly a giant among men with a heart to match. He will be missed by all who knew him. May the memory of him and all that he was, take you to a place of comfort and peace.

88. Sorry for your loss. Chiropractic has lost a great leader,

Dr. Connie Meis, D.C.

87. Henry Leavitt was my friend and confidant. He supported my goals and helped me strategize how best to navigate a complicated, political and rapidly changing healthcare system. Henry was first in line to risk publishing my company's work - I am still deeply moved by his courage. This outwardly calm and peaceful man was as fearless as anyone I ever met. With the most gentle and effective stories, he taught me a worlds about which battles were worth fighting and which battles to avoid. I cherish the wisdom I gained from his frequent calls and will most miss his loving and compassionate voice. I am honored to have known him and blessed that he was in my life.

86. At this time of your great loss I pray that my words will give even the slightest comfort for I of no significance in his life will miss him.

Over the years, even when I wasn't "on the books," Mr. Leavitt always took my calls and was most helpful, no matter how big or small my request or needs. I feel honored just to have had the privilege of speaking to him on the phone these past eleven years. The service that he provided the profession will be missed no matter who takes over the "business." I didn't buy the books, I bought the privilege of speaking to the head of the company. I always referred to him as Dr. Leavitt, in the true meaning of the word doctor - teacher- he was Dr. Leavitt to me.

My prayers are with you,

Sincerely,

Ruth Ross, D.C.

85. I have only met Mr. Leavitt a few times. My instinct is to call him Brother Leavitt. He is the most friendly person I've ever met. He was easy to be around and he made me smile. I enjoyed his company.

I know you will all miss him. And even after having lost a family member of my own, I still have no idea of what would be best to say. Thank goodness the gospel gives us the assurance that we will all be together again. And hopefully the separation won't seem too long.

May you find peace in the atonement of Christ. May you find peace in Brother Leavitt's strength and testimony of the gospel. May your memories of times spent together carry you through.

Thinking of you all,

Raquel Shumway

84. I would like to tell you, how deep sorrow I feel, from news of passing my dear friend D. Henry. My heart and thoughts are with you in this sad time.

I am in China right now and I am still in shock over the lost of my dear friend D. Henry. I have hard time to come to reality, that I will not see him any more.

D. Henry was my mentor, my advisor and I loved him as my brother, which I never had before. I will forever miss his kind words, his encouragement and his warmth I feel, when I was around him.

I know, his vision and spirit will be with me rest of my life and help me, when I will need help.

He was very special to me and like you know it, that you were always raw model, how man and wife should live together with love, kindness and understanding.

Grace, please accept with your family my deep sorrow at this difficult time.

Otakar Dolezel

83. So sad to hear of Henry's passing...Henry was a great guy and growing up together in Idaho, we always had lots of fun together. He was always so kind to everyone and could keep everyone laughing. I send my love and sympathy to you and your family.

Gloria Leavitt Barney

82. I wish to express my condolences to Henry's family. I had the pleasure of meeting Henry on several occasions and came to understand how genuinely he cared about chiropractic. We all have lost a good friend.

Lawrence Humberstone DC

81. Mr. Leavitt was one of the most dedicated people to chiropractic that was not a chiropractor. He truly gave from the heart and only wanted others to succeed in return.

Thank you for all you've done.

80. It is with much regret and sorrow for his passage I send this. I wish him a Bright Passage and a Bright & Loving Re-birth. May his family know peace. He was very well respected and honored.

In Health & In Service,

Dr. R. M. Cadwell

79. I am so saddened to hear of your huge loss. I was brought to meet him for a coding class and he met me at his office when it was convenient for me since I could not make his upcoming class. It was an incredibly enjoyable class that when my wife asked me how the class was I answered I had just met someone I hope to be in 50 yrs.

He was full of LIFE and we talked, laughed and he shared incredible stories. I truly believed that day I was sent there by God and prayed a thank you on my way home.

He was so warm, inviting and jovial that when our time was up we embraced and said it was great to have met one another.

No, D. Henry Leavitt, the pleasure was ALL mine. You will forever leave my heart softer and have made me a better father, husband and friend by displaying your Love of God, Family and Man.

Again I say thank you for God allowing me a few brief hours to see a glimpse of greatness inside this very funny, caring and humble Man.

God Bless,

Dr. L. Jon Porman

78. DH, as I've known him over the years, has been more than a distant friend. He from our very first introduction some 20 or so years ago was clearly a man among men whose strengths, intellect, and deeply held beliefs in the best of people shone then and only became brighter with succeeding years.

Shortly after our introduction, DH and I shared strongly beliefs and opinions in the notion that real prevention was the key to lowering the burden of disease, illness, injury, disability, and premature demise. Over the years our shared beliefs in what individuals can, could, and should do in their own interests became a commonly held mantra with every conversation and exchange of correspondence.

To have learned of this sudden interruption in this beautiful man's life and objectives was a great and sad shock. DH has done ever so much for so many over the years and hence those who have occupied his world will now have a void. But I feel sure DH would only want his friends, constituents, and family to do more than merely carry on--it's almost as if I can hear him now urging us to persevere and work towards the ends of his lifelong pursuit of health for all.

Thanks, DH, should you be listening (and I suspect that is so), for your friendship, your never wavering interest, and for your faith in the betterment of all around you.

Steve Barchet, MD

77. He has a angel waiting to give him wings. A great man has passed but, never forgotten. My sincere condolences.

Dr.Michael Windman

76. D Henry! I cried and my heart ached to know of your passing!! When I served my mission there you taught me what true love was of our brothers and sisters who we served and taught and knelt with and prayed for. I loved how gentle and sweet and good you always were to every one you knew and came in contact with. You were such a example of how much you loved your wife Grace and how you respected her and served her. I will never forget your voice and how funny you were and how many great conversations we had. You always sent us home with something you grew from your garden.

I will miss you so so much my dear friend!! On the other hand I am excited that you will be now with those of whom you loved and spoke of and cherished!!

I have never met a more gentle Giant that taught me more than he did by the way he lived!! I am so graetful that I had a friend like D.Henry Leavitt

With Love

Angelo Nielson

75...we will never forget our times at the ChiroCode Institute working for this kind man. He truly was a "good one" and what we learned from him will be with us forever. Our condolences to his family and especially his sweet Grace.

Sincerely, Rochelle Sayer and Lara Smith.

74. A smile, a sincere handshake, a positive word and a willingness to share are the memories I will take with me the rest of my life of DH. If actions speak louder then words then DH had a big impact on the world, especially within the COCSA family. I have witnessed commitment from the heart. He shall always be a mentor to all that have personally known him or witnessed through his work. Thank you for sharing with us at COCSA. You are and shall always be a true friend.

Jeffrey S. Fedorko DC
COCSA President

73. It is with great regret that I hear about Henry's passing. He was an amazing man with a great positive can-do attitude to match his great intelligence and a rare unfettered desire to do the right thing, all the time. As a Jew, we would call him a "Mench." Such a person knows honor, ethics and rightousness. Henry knew and practiced all of this for the betterment of mankind, sometimes even at his own expense. We need more people like Henry in the world. I considered him a friend to myself and the chiropractic profession. His influence will carry on.

David N. Taylor, DC, DABCN

72. I was shocked and saddened to hear of the death of our dearest friend, D. Henry Leavitt.

I have known Henry for almost 9 years in helping chiropractic profession. He was always inspirational to me and dedicated in our work in promoting this profession and better healthcare for all. Known to the most, Henry was the most dedicated vital person in this profession for educating DC's on ERISA in achieving better reimbursement, unknown to the most, Henry was the only most important person for introduction and promotion of the new healthcare science, Hypoxicology (ZHT) in the past 5 years in USA, which was impossible without my dearest friend Henry.

I frequently and recently talked to Henry, even one week before his stroke, and I sure miss him as he was a part of my personal life and professional work on ERISA and ZHT.

Henry's legacy won't be forgotten and will be carried on by all of us for better healthcare for all.

Your friend,

Jin Zhou, DC

71. The thoughts of the grateful profession are with you at this sad time.

Kenneth P. Gonoud D.C.

70. I met Henry in Jacksonville, FL at the very first Chiro show that we ever participated in with my "Back Saver Wallet." His ChiroCode booth was just two booths down from mine, and he was such a shy man that it took him almost one minute to introduce himself after I got my booth set up.

We talked often during the course of the exhibit and I could tell that he was sincerely interested in me personally, not just as a new exhibitor, but as someone he wanted and could help. And believe me we needed all the help we could get.

We got to talking about my product, which he liked very much, and for which he probably understood the potential for, in Chiropractic, better than I. He explained to me how the doctor's billing process worked, gave me suggested CPT codes for the doctor's use, and listened very carefully as I explained some of our marketing ideas and research that we had already done.

The last day of the show, he came to me and asked me again to explain some more about the info and research we had gathered and after I explained, in a little more detail, he said to me, "Vlad, do you know what you have?" When I answered that I thought so but also asked him "what do you mean"? He responded by telling me, you don't just have a sales/marketing program, you have a "diagnosis" and should present your data to the CDC.

When I told him that this sounded really wonderful, but how do I do that. He answered immediately, "write up everything you just told me, include your research sources and send it to me."

I did as asked, and Henry presented the data to the CDC. He asked me to follow up with a particular individual that was getting the data, told me what to write in my follow up email, and then said "let me know what happens."

In October 2005, the CDC added "wallet sciatica" as a diagnosable medical condition, and this has become our major sales point for the Chiropractic industry. Henry said I had a "diagnosis" and he was right.

I saw Henry many times after that initial meeting, and he never stopped being the wonderful gentle-man that was always ready to help. I am now following up with the CDC as Henry recommended I do the last time I saw him, and I am sure that if I do what he recommended, we will gain the next step with the CDC.

I will miss his smile and his shy misdemeanor but am sure that he is helping someone in heaven right now.

Vlad Gribovsky

65. We are sorry to hear of the passing of our dear cousin D Henry and so send our love. I personally am so grateful that he and I had the opportunity to spend some time together last year as we visited the graves of family members at the Provo Cemetery. D Henry has always been an inspiration to me. His support of the Durrant family and cousins has set an example for each of us. His smile and laughter will always remain in our hearts. Could any one person more emulate the life of our Savior. I think not. May our Fathers blessings be upon each of you during this separation and lonely time. Sister Abbott and I will be praying for you.

With sympathy,

Elder and Sister Tom Abbott

64. D Henry will be missed so much. He was such a great person. Always know how to make you feel welcome and loved. We will miss him.

Mac and Alisa

63. I have worked with DH for about 15 years. He has always been the kindest supervisor and easiest man to work for. I have spent much of the last two days finishing some tasks at the request of Lamont. Every phone call that required me to tell someone of this bad news has resulted either in stunned silence, tears, or a rush of kind words about the man. I have not heard of that happening often in business. It seems like every life he touched was better for it. He was a great friend to my self and my family. I shall miss him greatly.

-Rick Lehtinen, Mesa.

62. I learned to love and appreciate DH. Im going to miss him, his calls and his great eloquent speech. If there is anything I can do do not hesitate to call me

Jeff States

61. I shall miss my friend but will keep the happy memories of the conferences, dinners and especially the Alaskan cruise that we enjoyed together. He was so very proud to have his grandson play the piano so beautifully well and I am still able to see his face beam with joy. Henry was an honest man in business and really was concerned about his customer. He went more than the required mile to help. I am privileged to have known him and I appreciate the contribution that he made to the chiropractic community and all that he did for me.

With warmest and fondest feelings,

Constance Haber, DC, FACO, DABCC, DABCT, BCFE, BCFM, CDE I, DABFP, FACFN

60. I may not share the depth of your loss of D.H. as you, but I am saddened by the passing of my dear friend. My condolences!

May the Grace of God bring peace and comfort in your time of need.

A Friend,

Dr. Gary Diel

59. I will miss arguing with Henry about trusting the wrong people because he always overlooked human frailty and championed the character of the human condition. He has been like a father to me and his vote of confidence in me and faith in my ability hastouched me to my core. He remains a great man in my experience by virtue of his uncommon humanity and pure altruism driven by his fierce faith in human nature. No man ever was so selfLESS in my experience. No man so giving of himself and trusting in others. I am blessed to have shared time with him and will miss him every day. His memory will inspire us to achieve through drive and will and dogged persistence. I feel his faith. It is pervasive and it drives and comforts me. There is a deep genuine, wonderful spirituality about Henry's memory that oozes integrity, warmth and love. It will sustain us all.

What a wonderful man! What a wonderful life!

Jim Gibbons

58. I'm so sorry! What a shock! He was a great guy -- I only met him once, but I still remember him, standing there smiling and making conversation with total strangers, me included. He was a big hunk of friendly!

Chris C.

57. I first met Henry in 1960 while attending BYU. Henry was two years older than I and had a profound and enduring influence on me. We would discuss many topics, sometimes to late in the night. Henry always had the time to share with me, and, of course, he always shared his laugh with the big broad smile and usually a joke or two. It was through Henry's influence that I made the life-altering decision to serve a Church Mission.

A few years later, shortly after he and Grace were married, Henry joined me with life in Arizona. We have always maintained contact with each other and, even during my eleven years in California, my family and I would hear a knock at the door only to be treated with the laugh and the big broad smile.

During our fifty-year friendship, Henry was always upbeat and brimming with enthusiasm. Henry's passing was a great shock to me, as I have lost a life-long friend. I want to extend my sincerest condolences to Grace and the Leavitt family.

Harry J. Gould

56. My profession has truely lost a great man. I am so honored that i got to spend time with him in alaska one year ago. Getting to know him was a tremendous pleasure. It is rare in this day and age that a man loves and shows that love for his family so openly. In my minds eye, I will always remember him carrying his little grandson to all the dinner tables. Wow, what a loss!!! Please know that I am grieving right with his family.

Sincerely,
Dr. Barbara l. Pilj, D.C.

55. My sympathy to the Leavitt family and all those close to him.

I, like others, never had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Leavitt face to face but shared a few phone conversations with him when assistance was needed with coding. The Chirocode book is our office bible. My thanks to him for this wonderful tool which makes our day to day office procedures a little easier.

A few words to sum up my brief encounters with him:

Patient, kind, caring, instrumental and helpful with a good listening ear.

Seeing his photos made me smile...He was a SUPER-MAN to our profession and
will be missed dearly!

Maureen Damman

54. My condolences,

He was one of the good guys and will be missed.

Very truly yours,

Dr. Kelly

53. I was very sorry to read of Mr. Leavitt's passing. I was concerned when the last webinar didn't have his presence and then the Quick Question took so long to come back to me this week. I think I knew something was wrong.

What a loss to the Chiropractic profession! When I was asking a question of him once on the phone, he gently directed me to "page so and so of Chirocode". I forget sometimes how much material is in that book, not just codes but also a great deal of invaluable information.

We can all say a big "thank you" for his labor of love to the profession.

Susan L. Friedman, Office Manager
Friedman Chiropractic Inc.

52. We are very sorry for your loss. Mr. Leavitt was not only very knowlegable, but a pleasant human being. Not more than two weeks ago, we had a very lengthy conversation with him. He patiently took the time to answer all of our questions as he has done before in previous phone conversations. His bed side manners were the best. Though we didn't know him on a personal level, we will miss him.

Please give our condolences to his wife and family as well as all of the Chirocode staff from Dr.'s Davidson and Conforti.

Timothy A. Davidson, D.C.

51. I only met him once at a seminar, but that was all it took to know this man was not only gentle and kind, but chocked full of knowledge, that all of us in the room could only hope to some day learn.

He will be truly missed by very many professional people, along with his family and friends.

A great loss to the Chiropractic community.

Ardda Hersh, CA

50. I'm a long-time subscriber to the Chirocode Institute's books. My staff and I spent a lot of time on the phone asking Mr. Leavitt questions and getting great advice regarding the correct way to handle all our questions.

I had the pleasure of meeting him last Fall when he brought one of his training seminars to Chicago. I found him to be as charming in person as on the phone.

He, and his company, were a gift to my profession. He will be greatly missed.

Yours in Sympathy,
Dr. Linda L. Ehlers

49. My condolences to all -- it is always difficult to lose a loved one. It is a beautiful thing to have his name live on through the scholarships.

Respectfully,

Dr. Shelley Cathrea-Roy, CCSP, CSCS

48. So sorry to hear about your loss as everyone's loss in the Chiropractic community. I'm in Tampa and almost everytime I called Mr. Leavitt was the one that answered the phone and he was always very helpful. If he didn't know the answer he would do his best to find one. It's hard to lose someone and it is even harder to lose someone who had and will have such an impact on the people that crossed his path. I wish you peace and comfort.

Shea DuPont

47. D H was an awesome guy: always a day brightener! I found him to be compassionate, insightful, and hardworking: a man of tremendous character. He was a day-brightener and an inspiration.

I am sorry for your loss...and for the world's collective loss. Those lucky folks in heaven!

The team and I will miss him terribly!

Warm regards,

Synthia Laura Molina

46. I just wanted to send my condolences and prayers to all of you who I'm sure will miss him dearly.

45. My condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Leavitt.

Dr. Ty C. Quickenden, D.C.

44. Please accept our sincere condolences. Mr. Leavitt helped my practice, not only with Chirocode, but by generously and patiently answering our telephone calls. We will miss his presence during your telephone seminars and I wish I could thank him personally again for his dedication to the chiropractic profession.

Ed Simon, D.C.
North Hollywood, CA.

43. Although I never had the opportunity to meet Mr. Leavitt in person I spoke with him by phone on several occasions. He was a pleasure to speak with and an inspiring wealth of information. Thank you for this update and please forward my sympathies to his family and colleagues.

Sincerely,
Dr. Andrew J. Charni

42. He could give Zig Zigler or Tremendous Jones a run for their money! He ALWAYS remembered a face and delivered a warm smile to all. He will be missed.

Heide L. Hartmann-Taylor, D.C.

41. We have lost a giant in the chiropractic profession although he never adjusted a patient. He gave so many of us the tools we needed to survive in this present world of third party pay. I don't doubt that he did indeed prepare you for a time when he would no longer be at the helm - he had that kind of vision beyond himself. In Christianity we have a phrase called "having a servant's heart" and although I never even met Mr. Leavitt in person, I always got the feeling when we talked or through e-mails that he truly enjoyed serving this profession and always was at work to make it better for all of us and our patients and did have a servant's heart.

A great legacy to him will be for ya'll to keep the ChiroCode Institute as the guiding light that it has been to so many of us for all these many years. You have some big shoes to fill but I am confident that he would want it no other way.

My Sincere Condolences,
Dr. J. Matthew Durham

40. I spoke with Mr. leavitt on two occasions in the past few years. He was kind, patient and all too eager to help me understand things which they do not teach you in school. He was and will always be a friend to chiropractic and will always be a GIANT to me. I send all my love and sympathy to the family-his loss is felt, his life was purposful, his kindness to me was unforgetable.

My heart is broken and my eyes are full of tears, please give my love to his family.

Dr. Stephen A. Alexander D.C.

39. I'm saddened to hear this news - Mr. L was a loving person, and strong chiropractic advocate.

-Dr. Gorski

38. It is with great sorrow I read this email. Mr. Leavitt was a great man and stood up for us in time of need and his interpretation of the coding was spot on. May he rest in peace and I will always be a customer of Chirocode. He will be missed.

Sincerely,
Michael J. Arnot, D.C.

37. I am sorry to hear of his passing. I really appreciated his time when I was able to speak with him. He was the Greatest!

God bless

33. We knew Mr Leavitt, who at one point several years ago, did some consulting work for us. We thought a great deal of him. We will miss him

Dave and Patti Lehew

32. He always made himself available to speak to anyone to help them and always returned a phone call. He will be missed by all. Brian Mitteldorf D.C.

31. The first time I met Mr. Leavitt was when I came for my interview and he was cleaning off the steps leading up to the office. I was so impressed with how conscientious that was of him. I thought his office must be as neat as a pin. After 3 years of working closely with him, I can now assure you his mind was constantly going in a thousand different directions, with a thousand projects in the works, and his office usually looked like a hurricane just went through it! And that was so perfect for him, because Mr. Leavitt didn't care what things looked like on the outside, just what was important--the stuff you couldn't see easily, the things that cannot be measured. Like character, and humbleness, and generosity.

His tireless enthusiasm for helping others inspired everyone around him.I've never met anyone so passionate about their work, so dedicated to a profession as Mr. Leavitt was to helping Doctors of Chiropractic. He would often end a phone call and come into my office and just stand there with a big grin on his face and exclaim, "Kimberlee, I just love our Doctors!" He was truly fulfilled when he had helped someone with a coding problem, or talking to a fellow colleague about a new way to help Doctors get paid. He will be revered and admired for his work throughout time.

To know Henry was to love him. And from day one he felt more like family to me, than a boss. He was one of the kindest and most generous men I've ever met. He made everyone feel important and special. He used to thank me at the end of every day for the work I did. I will miss his booming laugh, his eternal optimism, his selflessness, and his kind spirit, every day of my life.

One of Mr. Leavitt's relatives put it best when she said, "To honor Henry -- we should all try to be more like him." I think he would want us to spend more quality time with our loved ones. Help others when we can. Stop and smell the roses. Be able to laugh at ourselves. Every time I walk up those steps to come to work, I will think of Mr. Leavitt. And I will think what an honor and a pleasure it was to have had him in my life.

Kimberlee Swanson

Director of Operations
ChiroCode Institute

30. It is with great sadness that I write this note having learned of the passing of D Henry. I only had the honor of knowing him since our initial meeting late last year. But D Henry had such a presence that I knew within minutes of meeting him that this was a real gentlemen.

D Henry truly cared about others and although my time with him was short he will always be a person that I will remember as one of the finest individuals that I have had the privilege to know. When D Henry spoke I listened to each and every word, with every conversation I wished we could just keep him talking.

We have lost a great person with his passing but he did so much good while with us.

Sincerely,

Randy Alexander

29. My condolences to the Leavitt family. He will be missed. He spent time with my staff and I, one on one at the Chiro Code office about two years ago. I left impressed at his passion for the profession and his kindness and sincerity.

Dr. Ty Ruddell, DC

28. This is truly sad news, the first time I met Henry Leavitt and his wife years ago at my very first seminar after getting into business, he was so gentle and kind when I had questions, he stayed with me showing me how things worked. I stopped going to any seminars unless they were Chirocode and that was due to this kind and helpful person, God put in my path. I will pray for his family and I too will cry for our loss and Gods gain.

Carma McConahay

27. We just spoke! It can't be! Alas! To all of us, let us look at the example, humble service, and selflessness of "Dr. Leavitt". He is a Doctor in my book, a mentor, and a friend. So willing to pick up that phone and talk with any and all who could contribute meaningfully to the Chiropractic Profession. His last words to me were that he was to arrange a meeting with Mike Miscoe and myself. Mike, I will be calling you, he felt very strongly we needed to speak. I heard his counsel, and as so many of us have been too busy to execute wise counsel. May we all be like Dr. Leavitt, eager to help, humble to serve, kind to those that stand in need of comfort, and may peace be with your family old friend.

Much love.

Dr. Sloane, D.C.

26. I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Leavitt four years ago. As an icon in our profession, he was complimentary in my work and most of all, encouraged me to learn more about the insurance business. He always was a motivating force to me and to others. This is what spurred me to become an insurance consultant and teacher.

His smile and enthusiasm always motivated others to help one another in the chiropractic business. I will miss him dearly.

Mario P. Fucinari D.C., CCSP, DAAPM, MCS-P

25. I wanted to just take a moment to express my sympathies to Henry's friends and family. He was truly a very wonderful and giving person and it was very evident that he was passionate about Chiropractic and coding. I first met him when I was a teenager and was learning about coding & billing for the chiropractic office that I was working at. I attended seminars as he would lecture here in Denver and always looked forward to those seminars and the jokes that Henry would tell. It was always so funny because I remember that he would tell jokes and then laugh at them, and a lot of times, I think he would laugh just because.

He has been a tremendous help and inspiration to me over the years. I considered him to be a mentor to me, although he likely may not have been aware of that. I feel very privileged to have known him and am so heart sick that he is no longer here.

Warm regards,

Brandy Beeson

24. It was my greatest pleasure to have known D. Henry Leavitt over these last 9 years. I first was introduced to him at the AAC's Annual Convention held in Phoenix. I was new to Arizona and still very green when it came to billing codes. Henry was there with a helping hand, and his gift "the Code-Book Bible" Henry took the time during the convention to show me the importance of knowing how to bill properly. Over the years, I saw Henry pass on his gift of knowledge to other newcomers to the profession. I am saddened by his passing but rejoice in that I knew this great man.

I was fortunate to see Henry this last June at the AAC Convention and spent time talking with him. He was bubbly, friendly and very caring. May my Prayers and wishes to his family and friends dear to him comfort them at this time.

David M Jones, B.Sc., D.C.

23. I am truly saddened by the news that Henry passed today and I would like to send my heartfelt condolences to Mrs. Leavitt, LaMont and the rest of the Leavitt family and ChiroCode staff.

I only had the pleasure of knowing and working with Henry for the past 2 years however I feel that I can call him my friend. His ability to see the good in people was truly amazing. Not only did he see it, he would help to bring it to the surface through his conversation, inclusion and friendly nature. It seems as though everyone he met, regardless of who they were, felt as though they could call him a friend and it seemed that he would never fail to make them feel as though they couldn't make that claim. It was very easy to see that he enjoyed helping people and when you spoke with Henry you couldn't help but smile. He would always treat everyone the same and never failed to look for the positives in people--he was truly champion of the profession. I will miss him.

Respectfully,

David Klein

22. It is with great sadness I received the news of Henry's passing.

He was a great defender of the Chiropractic community and he will be sorely missed.

21. I am profoundly sorry for the family and friends of Henry. As he always brought so much light and kindness into the world, he will certainly be missed by many. I'll smile each time I use the laser pointer he gave me the first time he sat in on my seminar. The many fond memories that I have of his positive words and thoughtful gestures will be with me always.

20. Chiropractic has lost a dear friend and advocate with the passing of D. Henry. Our hopes and prayers are with his family and the extended ChiroCode Institute family. Any conversation with D. Henry was sure to bring humor, enlightenment, and often righteous indignation, but was never boring. He has left a wonderful legacy for the profession.

19. Family members, you have my very sincere sympathies on the loss of Henry.

I first met Henry when he was doing an exhibition at a show years ago. I imagined him to be one of the regular sales people that you generally see at these types of conferences. How wrong I was!

When I spoke with him, I could not get over his enthusiasm and wonderment of our great profession. His passion for the profession extended far beyond his "business" with the profession however.

I hadn't seen him for a few years, when I again ran into him when he became the "consumer" member of CCGPP.

His calm, always encompassing attitude was very impressive to me, along with his ability to come up with my name, years after I had initially met him.

At the following CCGPP meetings, when we were still in our infancy at that time, we were always amazed that, whenever we ran into a situation where we had to do something, but didn't have the money, Henry would always say, "here's" $30,000 for the project" and would be embarrassed about the thanks that he would get.

His generosity however did not stop with his donation of money, but also the time and honest caring about this and other projects within the profession, which was remarkable. I never, ever saw Henry when he didn't have a smile on his face, he did light up many rooms around the country with that smile and that great attitude.

His ability to always see some good in someone, was amazing and he taught more than one person tolerance towards others in the profession.

I will miss Henry a great deal, but his spirit will live on with the members of CCGPP and we give thanks for having had the opportunity to meet and be a friend of this outstanding man.
In loving memory,

Jonathan Griffiths DC, M.PainMed, FACO, FICC

18. I met Henry only once but the time I spent discussing Chiropractic with him was memorable. I sought him out at a convention in Las Vegas in 2000 just to speak with him. I asked him for a few minutes and without question, he just sat down and talked to me. We should all remember the impact we can have on everyone we touch.

Henry...You will be missed but not forgotten.

Joe Holland

17. I feel honored to have met Mr. Leavitt. We met at a seminar that was held at Foxwoods in Connecticut. It was a wonderful seminar. I also learned of the Schemitzun and that Beau was bullriding in it. Since that time I've been to every Schemitzun in Connecticut. I was also saddened because I learned yesterday that this year's pow wow has been cancelled due to the poor economy. I appreciated Mr. Leavitt's level-headed advise, coding expertise, knowledge of chiropractic and insurance matters and his Hot Topics Commentary. I also enjoyed his very funny sense of humor. I feel as though I knew him well, even though we met but briefly at a seminar. I think we have lost a wonerful friend. My heartfelt condolences to his wife and children as well as to his co-workers and friends.

Sincerely,
Doris C. Swenbeck

16. I would like to extend my deepest sympathy to you. Your husband, and father, was an incredible help to me,a wealth of information, and so patient. I will miss him.

15. Please accept our deepest sympathies on the loss of Dr. Leavitt.

I have had the privilege of interacting with Dr. Leavitt on coding and compliance issues for many years and his loss will be felt by all in our industry.

He was a true friend of the Chiropractic industry.

14. Please accept my deepest regrets on Mr. Henry's passing. We know he is in a better place and at piece. We also know he would not have wanted to "lay around" and be "cared for" by others.

He got the last laugh as he no longer has to put up with us "crazy Chiropractor's" !!
I will miss his wonderful wit and caring.

Sincerely,

Dr. David Saum

13. I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of this giant of a man. His contributions to the profession of chiropractic will be appreciated for decades to come.

Please express my condolences to his family. I never met him, but benefited from his work every day.

12. We feel grief for all of us who will no longer benefit by his presence on this earth...
And profound joy for where his spirit is now free to be with our Saviour.

Blessings to you all.

11. I met Henry, not in Chiropractic, but as a fellow church member, when we sang Handel's Messiah every year, which his beautiful Grace conducted. We then found that we had a similar calling in Chiropractic. Through my years at the ACA, working with COCSA and the profession at large, though we had similar and sometimes competitive jobs to do, Henry was always supportive of everything I did. We found a natural alliance in our coding worlds, and found that our paths crossed often. He was a joy to work with and to serve beside. I know he's in his eternal home now, and gently waiting his eternal family. Everyone should stop and take a moment to silently thank Henry for all the good work he's done for this profession.

Kathy Mills Chang

10. "I am very saddened at the news of D. Henry. I have enjoyed D. Henry as a friend for as many years as he has been involved with chiropractic in AZ and have always been enlighten and brighten by his knowledge, caring spirit, and joy in his heart for helping others. I could always count on D. Henry to offer his assistance with any issue I brought before him. What a great person!"

Don H. Dearth, DC

9. "We at ChiroTouch are very sorry to hear of [D Henry's] stroke and subsequent turn for the worse. We always appreciated his kindness and willingness to share his knowledge and give sage advice. He did a lot to help many people over the years."

Dr. Michael Failla

8. "What a sad day for Chiropractic! I just received word that Mr. D. Henry Leavitt has passed on and our world has truly lost a great Chiropractic Warrior.

I can't even remember when I first met Mr. Leavitt but I know it was even before the ChiroCode Book days. Skip & I were introduced to him and we immediately had a connection. We worked with him over the years on the ChiroCode DeskBook and countless other ventures and even after Skip's untimely death, I knew I could pick up the phone and call him and discuss any challenge that may be occurring in the profession. Now, he will join Skip in the corner of the room at every SPS seminar, making sure things are being said correctly to help and support Chiropractors and their staff.

He was a great man and very respected throughout our profession and he will be missed dearly. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and all the staff at the ChiroCode Institute.

Hopefully we will all be able to help each other carry on the great tradition he started with his work and research.

Until we meet again--well done, Dear Sir!

Dar Crawford

7. The best boss I ever had was a person who...

Listened to me. Cared about my success. Let me do my job the way I thought it needed to be done. Let me make mistakes. Saw potential in me. Challenged me. Taught me. Had a sense of humor. Shared information with me. He wasn't just my boss, he was family. I thank him for the faith he had in me. I will never forget him. Thank You D. Henry! Carry on Grace.

Treva Worker

6. Henry's passing is truly sad news. He was an honorable man that inspired the best from all he came in contact with. I am honored to have known him and more honored that he sought my advice and counsel on coding and compliance issues. His mission was to help the chiropractic community deal with the complexities of coding and billing and you couldn't help wanting to help him achieve that goal. He worked tirelessly on behalf of his customers and the profession as a whole every single day. Henry proved false the adage that everyone is replaceable and he will be sorely missed.

Michael D. Miscoe JD*, CPC, CASCC, CUC, CHCC, CRA

5. A Tribute to my good friend Henry Leavitt;

A man's character is his fate. I must start out by stating that Henry was a Godly man. He was solid in his faith, and was not afraid to take a strong moral stand in his beliefs. Henry was an outstanding American. He was an Horatio Ager story, an icon for the Chiropractic profession. He blazed a new trail at a time that was critical for the survival of our profession. As the 3rd party system engulfed the delivery of health care, Henry was the first to tackle the coding system for reimbursement of Chiropractic services. I think it's fair to say that thousands of Chiropractors owe their very survival to the tremendous aid Henry provided them in reaping the fruits of their labor. Henry was a great leader in our profession providing seminars, and newsletters we always looked forward to. To describe Henry I will use what I perceive to be what his name means to me:

H - umor - Henry had an infectious laugh that made everyone surrounding him join in. He had a tremendous sense of humor and immediately bought my joke books and wanted to market them to the Chiropractic profession. He who laughs, lasts and that memory will live forever.

E - nthusiasm - I never talked to Henry when he was not excited. Enthusiasm comes from the Greek word: (God-within). He was enthused about life and all it had to offer.

N - ice guy - Henry was never abrasive. He was diplomatic, and anyone who even may have disagreed with him, respected him. He had what is known as Moxy.

R - elevant - Henry always liked to talk about things that made a difference. Trivia was never paramount. The issues of the time, and the challenges of the day were important and discussing solutions was always his goal.

Y- es - Henry was a "yes" man whenever he was asked to support a good cause. He would say, "Yes" when I asked him to donate to the Alpha center to save the unborn. When asked to donate to Chiropractic research he would always give a large donation. When asked to serve and give his input and expertise on national Chiropractic boards he was eager to say, "Yes." When I recently asked him to serve on my national panel of experts to stop socialized medicine, he immediately said, "Yes." He was committed to make a difference. He wanted to participate in causes that made our profession, and our country better. He loved his wife and family dearly. He knew how to prioritize. Yes, Henry left a legacy that will live on. He made his mark on history and all of us who knew him shall miss him, but his inspiration will continue to live on in all of us.

There are only three things for sure in life: 1. We can't be unborn once we're here. 2. Research has shown that one out of one of us shall die. 3. The Judgment. When Henry meets his maker, I am confident he will be told, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant."

Dr. Allen D. Unruh

4. In these stressful times words often cannot convey the full meaning. I never met Mr Leavitt face to face, but we talked several times over the years. While on some minor issues we may have disagreed as to the definition of a particular code, overwhelming we agreed on 99.9% of coding and billing matters.

We had some lively discussions, I have enjoyed his acquantice. He created an entity that, while focused on the chiropractic profession, has served a much broader field. Anyone involved in the treatment of musculoskeletal conditions has found ChiroCode and its associated products a much needed addition to our understanding of the healthcare/insurance billing interface.

We have all gained from our association with Henry Leavitt, and there now will be a gap, an open sore. However, his efforts through ChiroCode should serve as a marker, a means that others will be able to continue to benefit from his efforts.

Each of us live on in the hearts, minds, and memories of those we have touched. Henry's touch can still reach out to others with your continued work.

Thomas D. Freedland, DC

3. It is with great sadness that I learned yesterday of the passing of Mr Leavitt. I had the honor of working with Mr. Leavitt for the past 5 years after first meeting him as an insurance committee member of the AAC. I had always relied on Chirocode as a valuable resource for my practice since 1996 and was extremely pleased to finally meet Mr. Leavitt through the AAC.

Mr Leavitt was one of the most genuine, friendly and uplifting people I have met in my life. He inspired me to learn more about proper documentation and coding not only as a chiropractor but also as a naturopathic physician. With our common commitment to education and excellence, Mr. Leavitt and I set out to develop a book to serve the naturopathic community with a coding and billing resource similar to the Chirocode deskbook. This book is the Edison Answer book:The Annual Coding, Reimbursement and Compliance Guide for Naturopathic, Integrative and Cam Practitioners. I am honored that I got to work with him and his staff editing and helping to create this resource for the naturopathic community.

My last few meetings with Mr Leavitt were to discuss my ongoing education with coding and the decision for me to becoming a CPC ( Certified Professional Coder ). I currently am continuing the coursework and plan to take my certification exam this November.

He truly was a unique soul that I have met in my life and I will cherish the time I spent with him and his invaluable counsel over the years.

Ross Kerievsky DC ND (soon to be CPC)

2. Knowing D Henry Leavitt as both a father-in-law and business associate gave me many unique and treasured experiences.

Henry is the kind of man who will literally give you the shirt off his back. His generosity truly knows no bounds. Business was never about money or fame, only people and service. "How can we better help these doctors?" was a question he asked often.

The continual improvements in the ChiroCode Deskbook, website and Hot Topics newsletters were always driven by Henry's concern for "what is best for the doctors."

Henry often went out of his way to answer a question, find a solution, provide information or just lend a friendly ear. He had a unique ability to empathize with the problems of others, make them his own, and work to resolve them as best he could.

Henry's dedication was evident in the hours he kept, often up at 4am and in the office by 5am answering letters, emails, voice mails, chats and faxes. His door, inbox, phone and fax were always ready and available for anyone with a question or problem.

His continual striving for perfection would at times drive his office staff crazy. The Deskbook/article/email was never good enough, never edited enough and never "complete" without just another "tweak" to make it better.

The combination of work ethic, integrity and concern for others is seldom seen or developed to the degree of a D Henry Leavitt.

He will be sorely missed by his family, the medical community, and the thousands of people who's lives he influenced for good.

David D. Berky
Son-in-Law, Friend, Business Partner

1. How do I being to express my love and fondness for a man who is bigger than life? He loved to work hard and he loved to play hard. He often taught us: "Every burden has a blessing." Such was his attitude about life. After nearly losing the company several years ago, he persisted in his mission to help doctors. He turned this burden into a blessing for countless people.

Henry could never not help someone--whether at church or in his profession or even a stranger on the street. He worked right till the end until they finally had to carry him out--literally--as the paramedics did from his ChiroCode office.

He supported me; he encouraged me. He loved to laugh. Even in the hospital after his stroke (before his condition worsened), he had a great attitude and was interested in every nurse that helped him. I commented that he was "having way too much fun." But that's how he approached life.

A personality test revealed that Henry was a "glutton for new ideas and new experiences." That is so true. He was restless. He always had a new zebra to chase. But he took care of this doctors, and he took care of this employees. And he played favorites....with all of them!

Henry was dogmatic and stubborn. He sometimes commented that he didn't know how others put up with him. This trait helped him as he went to battle for his doctors. People listened to him and respected him, and things were usually a lttle better because of his tenacious efforts.

He loved Grace. Whenever she was away, staying with her sister, he tried to send her a love letter in the mail everyday, so that she could always go to the mailbox and find something from him. He loved to travel, and often took and extra day to enjoy the sights with Grace.

Henry loved his email, often at the expense of other pressing projects. That was where he could communicate with his family and friends and doctors. He'd always answer the phone at the office, even if it was late at night, so that his doctors were being taken care of.

It was a once-in-a-lifetime privilege to work with him for ten years. I saw both sides of him. I saw him at his worst and I saw him at his best. But if he was ever impatient or felt he'd been unkind to someone, he was quick to apologize and make things right.

I miss him terribly. It still seems like he is still here. He's not, but his influence will always be.

Thank you Henry. "You're the greatest." "I couldn't do it without you!"
