ChiroCode Institute began life as the Leavitt Crandall Institute founded by D Henry Leavitt of Phoenix, Arizona and William Crandall of Mesa, Arizona. D Henry had been consulting medical practices and more recently chiropractic practices when he realized that there was a need for a coding book that met the needs of the chiropractic community.
He approached his friend William Crandall with the idea and together they began work on the first ChiroCode DeskBook published in 1993. The first DeskBook contained code excerpts from the ICD-9, CPT, and HCPCS code sets that were most commonly used by chiropractors.
D Henry focused on running the business and gathering information for the DeskBook. William focused on organizing the information, desk-top publishing and the printing of the DeskBook.
As the success of the ChiroCode DeskBook began to grow so many people referred to the company as the "ChiroCode company" that William and D Henry decided to change the name of the company to ChiroCode Institute, Inc.
D Henry Goes It Alone
In 1999 D Henry bought out his partner William and continued the great tradition of concentrated information and specific advice for chiropractors.
As the new millennium began D Henry focused on working with the many state associations, chiropractic colleges, and chiropractic related organizations. The ChiroCode DeskBook was endorsed by COCSA (the College of Chiropractic State Associations) and has been highly recommended by many of these organizations and schools.
Always one for looking to the future, D Henry quickly jumped on the Internet band-wagon and the ChiroCode.com website has been a central part of the ChiroCode Institute for information and product delivery.
D Henry expanded the company through the creation of the ChiroCode Catalog which featured over 80 items recommended by ChiroCode for chiropractors. These catalog items were soon added to a comprehensive electronic store on ChiroCode.com
Over the next several years D Henry hosted hundreds of seminars including some very popular seminars held on cruise ships. D Henry also spend thousands of hours flying thousands of miles all across the country to speak, teach, meet, and consult with thousands of people in the chiropractic industry.
D Henry promoted the ChiroCode DeskBook throughout America and in turn, as did the DeskBook, became a well-respected figure in the chiropractic community.
The Passing Of D Henry Leavitt
On July 21st, 2009 D Henry Leavitt passed away with his family at his side. For years D Henry had been working with his son LaMont J. Leavitt to introduce LaMont to the many friends and colleagues D Henry had made in the chiropractic community over the years.
LaMont is now serving as the President/CEO of ChiroCode Institute, Inc. and is looking forward to continuing the traditions of excellence, integrity, and support for the customers and friends of ChiroCode and for the benefit of the chiropractic community as a whole.
