On November 20, 2009 President Obama signed Executive Order 13520, titled Reducing Improper Payments and Eliminating Waste in Federal Programs. As a result of that Executive Order, CMS has chosen chiropractic as one of the four services to receive Special Study review by C.E.R.T. contractor AdvanceMed. This review starts in August of this year and will continue until the error rate for chiropractic falls below the national average. Dr. Ron Short will tell you how to respond to the requests for records that accompany these Special Studies. He will also tell you what to expect as these Special Studies continue and what we, as a profession, can do about it.
