1. 2010 ChiroCode DeskBook - On Schedule to Ship in Mid-January!
I am pleased to announce that the 2010 ChiroCode DeskBook is on schedule to begin shipping next week. Our initial reviews have been that the new 2010 ChiroCode DeskBook is nothing short of fantastic.
The 2010 ChiroCode DeskBook is packed with what you need to empower you to get paid and keep it. This new 18th annual edition is more than just current codes. Here are just some of the highlights:
- The entire book has been updated with critical information, forms, explanatory references and internet links to information that helps you get paid and keep it.
- Compliance and Risk Management Section Several new pages have been added to the Compliance and Risk Management section to help you weather the "perfect storm" that the entire chiropractic industry is now facing, with post-payment audits and refund demands. Refer to these tips often. Also new and updated are the Red Flags Rules and OIG Compliance Program Guidance.
- Documentation Section New pages for Initial Visits, Subsequent Visits and Treatment Plans have been added. Applying the information on these pages to your practice is an important part of protecting your practice against audits and refund demands. Also included are updated standards for performance pay (bonuses), updated codes for record keeping, and the Problem Oriented Medical Record (POMR). Learn the rules so that you can play their game and win.
- Denials and Appeals Section This section has critical and essential knowledge for the management of claim denials and adverse determinations.
You now have three ways to get your book:
- ChiroCode DeskBook with Premium Support-One Payment: Regular $479, now only $429
- ChiroCode DeskBook with Premium Support-Monthly Payments: 1st Payment $129, 11 monthly payments of just $29.95

3. 2010 Medicare Fees - What To Do?
It must be January because we don't know what to do with our Medicare fees.
Once again Medicare has applied their magic formula and after taking into consideration our expenses, our geographic areas, our malpractice costs and many other mysterious factors, they have determined that we were paid 21.5 % too much last year. The fees must be reduced! But wait! It's Congress to the rescue (at least for a while), telling Medicare to not reduce the fees until after February 28. Hope springs eternal!
All frivolity aside, the 21.5% Medicare fee reduction has been delayed by Congress until after February 28. We have seen this before and (so far at least) Congress has not failed to halt the reduction and hold fees where they are or (sometimes) grant a modest increase. Keep charging what you were charging last year until February 28 and keep your ears open. There is more to come, we just don't know what or when.

4. Collections Down in 2009? - Here's the Simplest, Quickest Way to Improve Collections in 2010
Presented by Reimbursement Specialist and Health Care Attorney, Keith Pendleton, JD.
ChiroCode Spotlight: Tuesday, January 26, 2010
Time: 4 pm Eastern, 3 pm Central, 2 pm Mountain, 1 pm Pacific
Providers everywhere seem to be saying the same thing - "In 2009, my collections went down 10%," or "In 2009, my collections went down 30%." In some cases, we've heard providers reporting drops in collections rates of 40%-50%!!! Do you want to stop this decline and start reversing this trend? If so, this special 2-Part Series is a MUST.
One of the simplest, quickest way to improve collections IMMEDIATELY is to fix a process that is broken in many practices - a process that many providers don't even know is broken. The process relates to your assignment & lien document and protocol. In this 2-part series, Keith will explain exactly WHY the assignment & lien document is so critical. He will explain how it serves as the core platform for getting paid PROMPTLY and IN-FULL. He will introduce the topic of Health Care UCC Liens - a body of law that most providers do not know and don't understand. Most importantly, he will explain what you need to start doing to stop the decline in collections and start reversing the trend.
The 2-part webinar is part of the Grow Your Practice and Get Paid series, a nationwide series being sponsored and promoted by the ChiroCode Institute, Find-A-Code.com, American Medical Billing Association, Medicfusion EMR, and National Injury Diagnostics.
