Noridian Defines Their Interpretation Of Medicare Manipulation Requirements
On November 9, 2010, Noridian Administrative Services made a significant policy announcement regarding subluxation demonstration and manipulation requirements under Medicare. According to the Noridian statement If you use any of the following devices you can expect to receive no reimbursement:
- ProAdjuster, PulStarFRAS or any other electric device such as Neurocalometer, Paraspinal Electromyography, Spinoscopy, or Thermography.
This is currently only a Noridian policy; however, it is our opinion at the ChiroCode Institute, that this isn't right. Actually we expect a revised statement from them late this week. We'll keep you all posted when the get it out softening their position. It may hit as early as Nov 18th or Nov 19th. Noridian represents about 20% of the nation in Medicare Claims.

How Updated CCGPP Guidelines will Strengthen and Grow Your Practice
The Council on Chiropractic Guidelines and Practice Parameters (CCGPP) has developed and published over twelve papers and guidelines providing doctors the evidence they need to provide better care for their patients. Additionally, they provide the doctors the resources and direction to better document the medical necessity of care, and the resources to defend against denials by bad consultants.
This webinar will focus on the highlights contained in several of the published chapters, especially that related to chronic spine pain. You will learn how the use of CCGPP documents can build a stronger and healthier practice.

Dramatically Increase Your Collections By Providing Therapeutic Procedures
Tuesday, November 23, 2010
Time: 4 pm Eastern, 3 pm Central, 2 pm Mountain, 1 pm Pacific
Presented by John Schmidt, D.C. FIAMA
As you know, insurance companies across the board are cutting back on many services that are provided by health care providers. For chiropractors, this means that third party payers are refusing to pay for many "passive" therapies especially when provided after two weeks of care.
However, insurance companies are much more willing to pay for Therapeutic Procedures (97110-97546), especially for chronic conditions, because numerous research studies have demonstrated that patients make significant progress when a treatment regiment includes Therapeutic Procedures.

97035 Ultrasound and Units of Care
Question: How do we correctly bill for 97035 Ultrasound (two) units? I realize ultrasound is a timed therapy and two units represent twice the time. But can it also show one unit for the cervical spine and one unit for the lumbar spine, and how is it shown on the 1500 form?
